1. Ran 12 miles yesterday morning in the rainy remnants of Hurricane Hanna. It felt surprisingly good.
2. Went down to Lynchburg on Friday night - two of my pieces got selected for the national juried photography show at the Academy of Fine Arts there, and one of them won an award at the opening.
3. The running blind dog:

Who knows what kind of bird this is? There were two of them, and they seemed to have a nest. I’m glad he let me take his picture, because I wouldn’t have believed me if I’d tried to tell myself about him.

2. And from our equally hilarious (though just plain frightening) daily right-wing-wackos department, via Boing Boing, Judge orders woman to return two library books or go to jail.
3. Mister Creepy-Crawly:

Movie Recommendation: Tomorrow (1972): This is an amazing and simple little movie, set in (and steeped in) the deep south. Robert Duvall gives one of the best performances of his life, and the movie is rich with gentle authenticity. In magnificent black and white.

Not in black and white:

I’m underneath your window now—it’s long after the birds have gone to roost
I’m not sure if I’m singing for the love of it or for the love of you
I’ve flown a long way honey oh hear my confession then I’ll go
I’d rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know
Hello brown one, hello blue one
Last night’s feathers exchanged for new ones

This picture is old. But I love it.
